Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara

If you're on the lookout for a new everyday mascara, this hot new brand on the UK market could be the one for you. Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara creates super long, extra defined lashes - absolutely no clumps in sight. It's great for catching the tiny lashes on the inner corners of the eyes, and the wand only carries a small amount of mascara, so you can create high drama lashes without instantly drowning them in black gloup.

What's more, this mascara contains moringa oil, which strengthens lashes and assists in lash growth.  The formula is really kind to sensitive eyes, is paraben-free and has not been tested on animals. My new favourite daytime mascara!

Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum

Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum

How amazing! A magical potion to help us girls (and boys) achieve the luscious locks that we've always dreamed of.

This serum by Deceim (the company behind Fountain The Beauty Molecule and The Hyaluronic Acid Molecule) claims to helps activate hair follicles, boosting hair density by 13% in four months. That's impressive.

The sciencey bit: Bio-active pea sprout is used to activate hair growth. Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 stimulates collagen production so that hair is less likely to fall out and grows longer, while Chinese Skullcap, Soy Sprout and Wheat Sprout help to thicken each follicle.

Directions for use: Apply 20 drops to your scalp a day. I apply to my finger tips and massage in for a more accurate application.

L'Oreal Hair Chalk

This weekend I tried out the trendy new L'Oreal Hair Chalk range, a fun temporary hair colour that lasts for two washes.

It's easy to pop on, simply apply to the hair where you want to add a flash of colour. I used a cotton wool pad to help minimise hand stainage.

I'm not really a fan of blue or pink hair, but here's a picture where I tried out 'Bronze Beach' highlights. Subtly festive and still semi-natural looking, I really liked the finished look.

Clarins HydraQuench Cream and Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm

I lather my face in a good moisturiser every morning and night, and I believe this is my secret for maintaining spot-free skin. It's a common misconception that you have to dry out your face to banish the blemish, when often a daily regime of moisturising goodness could work wonders.

The important part is to ensure your moisturiser is tailored to your skin. Do you have dry skin? Combination? Oily? There's even a moisturiser to reduce unwanted shine and limit excess oils.

Clarins HydraQuench Cream

I use Clarins HydraQuench during the colder months for dry/normal skin. It soaks in really fast and smells so clean and fresh, it reminds me of those cucumber wipes in the green packet from Boots.

In the winter I possibly have the most chap-prone lips in the Universe, so I've been trialling the lip balm from the same 'HydraQuench' range to try and revitalise them. It has a consistency similar to the Elizabeth Arden 8-Hour Lip Balm, thick and gel-like, and it has a gorgeous taste that's like Cherry Drop sweets. With essential rose wax and shea butter, it's like a little tube of lip TLC. I also like the look of it on the lip, it's got a pretty pink sheen that's nice and glossy without being sticky.

Tom Ford Traceless Foundation Stick

I think I am in love. It may be a rather reckless love affair, but aren't they always the best?

I love Tom Ford foundation as a rule, and their Traceless Foundation Stick is no exception. Beautifully packaged, compact with effortless sophistication, this product looks as expensive as the price tag that accompanies it. It's a luxury number, that's for sure.

Tom Ford Traceless Foundation Stick, fawn,

To apply, twist off the ever-so-beautiful cap and twist the stick up by a milimetre. Don't twist too far, or else you'll end up with a messy foundation stick after applying.
You can either use the stick straight on the face, focusing on problem areas, like I did (pictured below) or use a foundation brush - I wouldn't recommend this though as it causes unnecessary wastage. I used my fingertips to blend in the foundation, as the warmth helps to melt the foundation for a perfectly blended finish.

The finish is absolutely beautiful. Perfectly flawless and silky soft, it does all the jobs of a great foundation without looking like foundation. Definitely one for those extra special occasions.

The Best of the Berry Bunch

Mulled wine, sweet cinnamon, spiced plum...Oh yes, 'tis the season of the gorgeous berry lip. From popping purples to fruity fuchsia, there's a berry shade for everyone.

smashbox be legendary vivid violet
A glossy, bright purple shade with a gorgeous amount of shimmer, this lippy is really flattering to dark and fair skin tones. If you're looking for a statement berry lip, this is the one for you.

clinique chubby stick intense broadest berry
The Clinique Chubby Sticks are so amazingly moisturising that they are like lip-balm hybrids, perfect for the frosty winter months. The reddy-brown berry shade is warm and flattering, it reminds me of a tasty cinnamon jam. I'd recommend this shade for olive skin tones.

revlon berry couture
The girliest shade of my picks, this light berry has flashes of fuchsia that will work beautifully with green and blue eyes. If you're a fair skinned babe, this is a softer take on the trend that will complement rather than dominate.

stila acai crush lip stain
If stains are your game, this ribena-red berry lip stain is beautifully strong on the lip. Proceed with caution though, as it really doesn't budge! You can layer this stain up to your desired intensity, so it is a good one for all skin tones.

clarins rouge eclat true aubergine
Perhaps the sultriest of my berry lippies, this deep glossy wine shade is full of reflective particles. I think it looks gorgeous on brunettes, and picks up green eyes really well. It suits fair and dark skin tones equally, as it is just sheer enough to adapt perfectly. See the step-by-step tutorial of how to get this look here.

Berry Lips: Step-by-Step How To

A gorgeous berry lip is a firm favourite for AW13, especially as the party season gets in full swing...

1. Apply a light-reflective foundation with good coverage. Flawless skin is really important for this look. I used Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation in Ivory.

 2. For extra luminosity, I applied a few dabs of Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser after allowing the foundation to set.

3. Add definition to the brows. I used the Ash Blonde shade (bottom right) in the HD Brows Bombshell palette.

4. Start to build a smokey eye. Use a smudgable liner and outline the eye. Use a narrow shadow brush to blend the line outwards. I used Smashbox Waterproof Shadow Liner.

5. Take a natural tone of shadow and brush onto the rest of the eyelid as a base. I used the Naked shadow from the Urban Decay Naked palette.

 6. Use a black/very dark eyeshadow and apply over the smudge eyeliner near the lash line, taking up into the crease on the outer edge of the eyes. I used the Creep shadow from the Urban Decay palette.

7. Blend a rich golden-bronze tone into the dark shadow at the outer edge, blending the golden-bronze across to the mid section of the eyelid. I used the Smog shadow from the Urban Decay palette.

8. Apply a brighter gold shadow to the inner corner of the eye and brow bone. I used the Half Baked shadow from the Urban Decay palette. Tip: Use a clean shadow brush to blend any hard edges away.

9. Use a contouring brush (I used Real Techniques Contouring Brush) to apply bronzer under the cheekbones and to the temples. I used the HDBrows Bronzer Palette in 2.

 10. Now it's blush time! I used a coral-beige cream blush for a dewy finish and applied just underneath the apples of the cheeks.

 11. After blending the blush in with my fingertips, I added a golden highlighter to the most prominent section of the cheekbones. I used Smashbox Halo Highlighting Wand in Gold.

 12. Add lashings of mascara for full, dramatic lashes. I used Revlon Lash Potion Mascara.

 13. Apply dabs of concealer to any problem zones and under the eyes and carefully blot in with the fingertips. I used Clarins Instant Concealer.

 14. For an extra flawless finish, sweep a mineral powder over the forehead and nose to minimise unwanted shine. I used a Real Techniques stippling brush to apply Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent.

15. And finally, apply your berry lipstick of choice. I used a Clarins Rouge Eclat lipstick in True Aubergine.

 16. Blot and re-apply for an extra long-lasting berry lip.

MAC Lustre Lipstick in Freckletone

MAC Lustre Lipstick, Freckletone
MAC Lustre lipstick in Freckletone

After a full lunch hour of trying every nude shade in MAC, I opted for the soft toffee of 'Freckletone'. It's a lovely warm colour that doesn't pale out the face like most nudes. I was really tempted by 'Myth' and 'Creme d'Nude', but 'Freckletone' suited me so much more.

I used a nude lip liner on the whole of the lip to stop any pinkness showing through, guaranteeing an even tone. A dramatic smokey eye suits this lip so much.
