Clarins New! Rouge Eclat in True Aubergine: Get the Look!

Clarins have released a brand new lipstick range for Spring 2013! The rather glamourous-looking Rouge Eclat is an 'age-defying' lipstick, which claims to protect lips against dehydration with intense, long-lasting colour...

Firstly, this lipstick has gorgeous packaging. A pure handbag delight. It also glided on lovely, and although I usually stay away from the deeper shades - I LOVED the colour of True Aubergine. Slightly sheer with a hint of shimmer, this tone added a subtle fullness to my lips (which, quite frankly, are a bit measly. Thanks for that mother nature.) The bold sexiness of this shade is simply a must-have.

I applied an initial coat of the Rouge Eclat, blotted, then reapplied. Here's a close up of the final effect:

This shade is brilliant if you've got green eyes like me, I found it really made them pop. My lips definitely felt nicely hydrated and soft after application, and the colour lasted well without bleeding.

Rock the Look
This gorgeous aubergine shade is great for a vampy, stand-out look. I used a warming blush (not too heavy on the pink) to compliment the purple base of the lip wear, and added a subtle smoke to my eyelids for balance. No one likes to be bottom heavy, do they now? I grunged up the look by adding a few spritzes of TIGI Salt Spray to my locks, wearing a loose vest-tee to complete the look.

Benefit Ultra Shine Lip Shine in Foxy Lady

If you're on the lookout for a super-glossy, non-sticky, beautifully scented gloss, then Benefit Ultra Shines Lip Shine in Foxy Lady, now £7.00 in the sales, available from Benefitcosmetics.co.uk,
is absolutely perfect. It's packed full of glorious pinky-golden shimmer. I love to glide a layer over a feminine pink lipstick (currently I'm using Chanel Rouge Allure 112 Fantasque, available this spring 2013) for a temptingly kissable, glossy pout.

I think I'll be getting a lot of wear out of this beautiful little gloss as we head towards summer, it's so pretty and eye-catching. This really is a pink to make the boys wink.

Woo all the Boys... with MAC 'Ruby Woo' Lippy

MAC lipstick in Ruby Woo, £14.00, available from MACcosmetics.co.uk and MAC lip pencil in Cherry,  £11.50, available from MACcosmetics.co.uk

I have a hot new love in my life (and it isn't a man. Who needs 'em?) Nope, it's MAC lipstick in 'Ruby Woo'. I absolutely love it. Such a glorious deep red, it adds instant glamour to any outfit. It doesn't dry out the lip, and feels nice and velvety on application. Here's my New Year's Eve make-up choice, featuring the treasured lip wear:

Top Tips for Red Lip Perfection
1. Invest in a matching lip pencil. MAC's lip pencil in 'Cherry' matches 'Ruby Woo' perfectly, and will add clarity and perfection to the lips.
2. Optimise your pout. Use the matching lip pencil to create a cupid's bow, and add fullness by going slightly over the edge of your bottom lip. Apply the lip pencil to the entirety of the lip if you want your red to stay put all night long.
3. Think about colour clashes. Avoid blushes which are pink or red based, and opt instead for a blush which looks closer to a bronzer. I wore Benefit Sugarbomb Face Powder (and focused on the bronze/golden shades of the palette) The same applies for a highlighter - I used Barry M's Dazzle Dust in Gold Iridescent.

Chanel Rouge Allure in 112 Fantasque: Available Spring 2013

Ladies and metro-men, I present to you the most fabulous lip-wear available to mankind. Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour. It is achingly sophisticated. Effortless class. Iconic luxury. And, joy to the beauty world, there are four brand new shades about to become available in January 2013.

I had the pleasure of reviewing the gorgeously sheer, shimmering pink, 112 Fantasque. The colour is very feminine and complimented my skin tone fabulously, the slight golden tones bringing out a natural warmth. This lippy left my pout nicely hydrated and soft, and stayed put after application.

At £25, this lip-wear may be a bit of a splurge. But it is beautiful.

Weekly Product Pick: L'Oreal's Rouge Caresse

As you all should know by now, I absolutely love lip-wear. And this has to be my daily handbag staple. It's reasonably priced (£8.19, available from Boots - and often on 3 for 2, huzzah!) and aesthetically matches up to higher end brands such as Dior Addict (£24 *yes, it IS worth it, but sometimes you just have to economise) so this little lippy will still look ultra glam when you whip it out of your handbag. Lush.

What I like most about this lipstick though, is just how perfect it is for any occasion. It adds an instant dewy glow without being too much, banishing deathly pale lips in an instant. As much as I'm a fan of a bold lip, it has a time and a place. This warm coral is a brilliant, kissable, every-day shade.

Indulgent Splurge: Hello Dior!

I am borderline fanatical about lip-wear. Any handbag, whether clutch or full-blown tote, will eventually be filled with an obscene number of glosses, tints, balms, stains and lipsticks. But I would sacrifice them all in an instant (honest, your honour) for my newest luxury purchase...

The holy mother for slick lips, fate actually forced me to buy it when I cleared the office sweep-stake on my birthday. If that isn't a sign, then I really don't know what is... Screw the bills, say hello to my lush Dior-dripping lips. There is something so remarkably satisfying about pulling out this eye-catching little number, whatever the occasion. It brings instant glamour to the table, often quite literally. I have vowed to guard it with my life, to never accidentally twist the wrong way, and to never ever, in no uncertain terms, take it out on the razzle. I have loved and lost far too many times to make that mistake again...

Splurge with me...

Petal Pout: Gradual Lip Fade

Hyper-florals are dominating the fashion scene right now, and the land of beauty is following suit. It's all about the flora and the fauna for spring/summer 2012. The petal-inspired pout looks super cute and automatically makes your lips look fuller. Double win.

Here's your step by step guide to petal pout perfection...

Step 1. Prime the lips by removing any dead skin. I find the best way to exfoliate my lips without causing more damage is to wet a soft toothbrush and brush the lips in gentle circular motions. I then apply a light moisturiser which will soak in fast - like Simple's Kind to Skin Light Moisturiser, available from Boots, £3.79. Then dab away any excess moisturiser left on your lips.

Step 2. Now you have a perfectly primed pout, you can start to apply the lush pinks. To begin, use a dark pink lip pencil to frame the lips. I used Barry M's Lip Pencil Liner in Dark Pink, available from Barry M for £2.99. Apply the line quite thick, as you can then blend the lip paint into the line with ease.

Step 3. Get lippy! I used the Barry M Lip Paint range (available from Boots, £4.49 each) in Baby Pink and Shocking Pink to create the lip fade pictured above, but you can experiment with the shades which suit you best. My top tip is to use a lip brush (like No7s Lip Brush available from Boots, £7) to apply the lipstick, you will be able to blend the colours so much easier. I actually used a slim paint brush to create the effect, and it worked equally as well. Apply the lightest colour first, concentrating on the centre of your lips, clean the brush and apply the dark colour to the edges. Clean the brush again and use it to blend the colours together, but remember to stay consistent with the direction of your brush strokes. You could always use a mid-tone pink to blend them together, but this would mean purchasing another Lip Paint and isn't a necessity for the look.

Step 4. Seal the colour. Try Lipcote, available from Boots, £3.69, for a colour-packed pout which stays put.

And there you have it... you're ready to Pout Out Proud with the petal pout!
